About

My name is Yitna Firdyiwek.  I cut my educator’s teeth during the late ’80s and early ’90s in the Community Colleges of Northern Virginia where I was introduced to the portfolio method of teaching writing.  I did my graduate work at the School of Education and Human Development (then known as the Curry School) at the University of Virginia where I received my PhD in 2000. My research focused on electronic portfolios and writing instruction.  I have been working as an Instructional Designer and teaching all of my courses using ePortfolios ever since.
